Sergei Pavlovich Tumakov

Sergei Pavlovich Tumakov (Born 1919) was active/lived in Russian Federation, Soviet Union (former).  Sergei Tumakov is known for Landscape, genre, miniature painting, teaching.

Sergei Pavlovich Tumakov was born in Rusino, Ivano-Voskresensk region in 1919. He studied at the Palekh Miniature Painting School in 1933-1934.

Tumakov left Palekh in 1936 and took preparatory courses at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) from 1937 to 1939; and studied at the Repin Academy of Arts in 1939.

He served in the military from 1941- 1945. After his release he returned to his art studies and graduated in 1951.

Sergei Pavlovich Tumakov taught at the Gorki Art College (Nizhny-Novgorod) since 1951. He specialized in landscapes and genre pictures, as well as being a monumentalist .

In 1954 he became a member of the Union of Artists of Russia. He served several times as the Chairman of the Gorki artists’ union.
