Louis Hayet

Louis Hayet (1864 - 1940) was active/lived in France.  Louis Hayet is known for Pointillist and impressionist landscape, marine and interior scene painting.

Louis Hayet is a French post-impressionist painter, born in Pontoise on August 29, 1864, and died in Cormeilles-en-Parisis on December 27, 1940.

His parents, Calixte Hayet and Léontine Dufour, were very poor. At school, he was shy and reserved but was considered intelligent and gifted. His predisposition for painting appeared in 1876. From 1877 to 1884, he traveled the roads with his father, who was a traveling merchant. He joined the neo-impressionist group, Camille Pissarro, Paul Signac and Georges Seurat. First pointillist, it returned to a more classic way in 1890 and Paul Signac removed all mention of Louis Hayet in the second edition of his work D'Eugène Delacroix to neo-impressionism (the pointillism manifesto).

He painted scenes of circus and urban landscapes in the spirit of Seurat. He had a workshop in La Frette, and realized many landscapes of the surroundings.
