Johann Friedrich Treml

Johann Friedrich Treml (1816 - 1852) was active/lived in Hungary, Austria.  Johann Treml is known for Genre painting and watercolor.

Friedrich Treml was next to Albert and Carl Schindler one of the most important students of Peter Fendi.  Fendi taught his students at his flat in the suburb of Landstraße, where he lived with his mother and two nieces.  The artists were also cared for by Fendi's mother.  The students followed the work of their teacher, but also influenced each other. 


So there are many parallels between the artists, which can reach as far as copies.  An important common theme was the soldier as an individual or in the troops.  Treml liked to show the soldier as a solitary figure, who keeps a solitary position or looks dreamily out of a window or looks into it.  Only later, from 1840, you will also find the multi-figure soldier scenes in everyday situations, which are often characterized by a certain comedy.  The cooperation between Schindler and Treml was very close.
