Jan Michiel Ruyten was a Belgian artist who studied at the Antwerp Academy and gained international success through exhibitions in Belgium, Austria, and England. He was known for his cityscapes, genre scenes, and landscapes, but devoted most of his time to depicting his hometown of Antwerp.
