"Dwight F. Steininger was born the eldest of seven on July 26, 1910 at Logansport, Indiana.  At the age of 20, he discovered the gift (or desire) to paint, which he largely ignored until the summer of 1955.  At this time, he moved with his family to Brown County, Indiana, the famous art colony of the Midwest.  There he studied and took art seriously, spending all of the time he could spare from his life's work of the evangelistic ministry.
 
With the exception of a brief study with C. Curry Bohm of Nashville, Indiana, Jouiene Celfoene of Chicago, and a touch from every artist he has ever met, he has been self-taught in the school of experience.  He has also learned much from his students, of whom, about 65 enrolled in one month   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 2225 characters.]  Artist bio
