Charles Henry Cushman Parker (April 28, 1881 - September 5, 1940)
A.K.A. "Cushman Parker"

Painter and illustrator.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts to Charles W. Parker (b. 1859) and Clara A. Springer Parker (b. 1863).  His father was the proprietor of a restaurant, and the family resided in 1900 on High Street in Worcester, Massachusetts.  During the early part of the 20th century Cushman Parker was a prominent competitor of the younger, noted American illustrator, Norman Rockwell (1894-1978).

Cushman Parker departed for France in 1900 to train at the Academie Julian with Jean-Paul Laurens (1838-1921), remaining there through at least 1902.  He also studied with the American painter Carl Marr (1858-1936).  Parker had returned to the United States by 1904, when his work begins to appear regularly in pr   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 10625 characters.]  Artist bio
