Albert Hertel (1843 - 1912) was active/lived in Germany.  Albert Hertel is known for Landscape painting.

Albert Hertel was born in Berlin in 1843.  Albert Hertel was one of the most famous Berlin landscape artists of his era.  He studied at the Academy of Arts in Berlin and under Oswald Achenbach in Düsseldorf.  Achenbach's atmospheric Italian landscapes and contemporary figural staffage exerted an important and lasting influence on Hertel's oeuvre. 

In 1875 he taught at the Berlin Academy as lecturer in the class for landscape painting.  Since 1877 he worked exclusively as a freelance artist.  In 1897 he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Great Berlin Art Exhibition. (cru)Auctionata
