Helen Cordero (Born 1915) is active/lives in New Mexico. Helen Cordero is known for Storyteller figure.
Cochiti Pueblo potter Helen Cordero is credited with encouraging a renaissance in Pueblo ceramics with her Storyteller figure pottery. Dissatisfied with her clay pots she began making figures at a relatives suggestion. The storyteller doll is a representation of her grandfather. She recalls grandchildren sitting all around him as they listened to his stories.
Helen Cordero lived all her life at the Cochiti Pueblo and followed a traditional way of life including digging her own clay and preparing her own pigments.
